There were 18 different NBA teams in action Friday night, meaning plenty of former Duke Blue Devils took the floor for their respective squads.
Beginning with former No. 3 overall pick Jayson Tatum, who helped dismantle the Charlotte Hornets, scoring a game-high 34 points, 18 of which came in the first quarter, to go along with eight rebounds and nine assists. He also converted on five 3-pointers as the Celtics cruised to a 39-point victory.
Current teammates and former No. 1 overall selections Cooper Flagg and Kyrie Irving led the Dallas Mavericks to another win, defeating the Utah Jazz 112-100. Flagg neared a triple-double, posting 21 points, 10 rebounds, seven assists, three steals and one block. Irving added 14 points, two rebounds, two assists and three steals.
Cameron Boozer had a rough night for the Grizzlies, who lost their third consecutive contest Friday. Last year's AP Player of the Year Award winner finished with only eight points on 2-for-14 shooting from the field, including 0-for-8 from downtown. His schoolmate, Jared McCain, outdueled him, tallying 21 points, five rebounds, four steals and one block as the Thunder earned a 31-point victory.
In the absence of Kawhi Leonard and Scottie Barnes, another former No. 3 overall pick, RJ Barrett, tied a game-high with 27 points to go along with seven rebounds and five assists as the Raptors cruised to a 121-107 win over Milwaukee.
Lastly, Barrett's former teammate at Duke, Zion Williamson, finished with 13 points, eight rebounds, four assists, two steals and zero turnovers for the Pelicans in a narrow loss to the Timberwolves.
