Middlesbrough appear in crosshairs after ‘disgraceful’ treatment of Rangers midfielder Connor Barron

Rangers fans have not been pleased with what has been happening with Connor Barron out on loan at Middlesbrough.

The 24-year-old was not even in the matchday squad for his first five games at Middlesbrough until September. After that, he has been named on the bench, but is still to make his debut for them.

Barron will surely be regretting leaving Rangers, even though it was on loan. Boro boss Kim Hellberg has lauded his work ethic and has asked him to remain patient, assuring him that he will get a chance to prove his worth.

Rangers fans want Connor Barron back at Ibrox

Interacting exclusively on TalkingPoints, the supporters believe that the Scotland midfielder is not being treated well at the Riverside Stadium, and there are calls to bring him back to Ibrox in January. He was loaned out to get regular game time, and that clearly is not happening.

We’re close to the end of October, and it is plausible that the midfielder has got zero minutes of senior football under his belt before the next international break. This certainly will not please Derek McInnes and he could urge the board to take action.

Rangers fan and regular TalkingPoints user Robert Delussey believes that Middlesbrough’s treatment of the central midfielder has been “disgraceful”. He wants the club to recall him, and if there is no way for him to get regular minutes for the senior side, then sort out a club for him that will give him the needed minutes.

Disgraceful he is a decent player and doesn’t deserve this bring him back and if there’s no room in the Rangers team get the lad a team where he gets game time.

Dan Owen has analysed Middlesbrough’s squad, and he does not see the need for having Barron in the midfield when they already have two expansive passers. In his view, he is just there as a backup option, which benefits just the English club and not the Ibrox outfit for the player himself.

He, too, believes that the 24-year-old should return to Glasgow in January and the club must then take a call on where to send him, if he cannot be re-integrated into the team. Nicolas Raskin’s exit may open the door for him to be a first-team player from January onwards.

He’s a solid enough player but Middlesbrough have two really expansive passers in the midfield. I don’t think Barron quite has the ball-playing they’re looking for Bring him back if you can and send him somewhere more suited to his talents

Having Barron returning is a view that’s been shared by most Rangers fans. He has already made 85 appearances for the club, and while he has not kicked on to becoming a first-team regular, many believe there is still a player in there.

How will Rangers handle the Barron situation?

Rangers News understands that no decision has been made about Barron’s situation and any decision about recalling him will be made closer to the January transfer window. There is understood to be some concern about his lack of game time on loan, however.

Malky Thomson, the Loans Manager for the club, will be in dialogue with the player and is likely to have talks with Middlesbrough if the situation does not improve. It remains to be seen if there is a chance given to the midfielder in the coming weeks.
