Boston Celtics played their final game of preseason going up against the Philadelphia 76ers for the second time this preseason. However, the lineups were a reversal of the first matchup as it was the Celtics who rested their starters, whilst the 76ers played their starters.

The stay ready group of the Celtics managed to shock people as they grinded out an overtime victory 125-120 over the starters of the 76ers.

Maine Celtics Players Shine

The Celtics used many players from their G-League affiliate team, Maine Celtics, with many of them being pivotal towards their overtime victory.

Milos Uzan led the scoring out of the starting five, with 14 points on 4-9 shooting. Sam Cassell utilised Uzan's minutes alongside the minutes of Chris Cenac Jr, as they have built-in chemistry from being teammates at Houston Cougars.

Uzan sealed the win for the Celtics as he made a shot as the shot clock was expiring to extend the lead to 7 points in overtime.

Gabe McGlothan was another Maine Celtics player that shined immensely. McGlothan impressed with his rebounding efforts, which throughout preseason has been a massive plus factor towards how the Celtics play, as he grabbed a monstrous 13 rebounds, with 5 being offensive rebounds.

Hugo Gonzalez Keeps Shining

Gonzalez has been the most impressive rotation player for the Celtics throughout preseason and he seemingly saved his best performance for the final game, finishing with a team-high 21 points along with 4 rebounds and 3 assists.

During Hugo's rookie season the biggest question mark around him was how impactful he can be on offence for the Celtics. During this preseason he has so far been answering that question, as he finished with shooting figures of 19-30 (63%) from the field whilst also shooting 11-20 (55%) from three point range.

He has looked impressive with his decision making and composure on offence, as he seemingly knew when it was appropriate to drive to the basket and he also looked composed taking three point shots. Compared to his rookie season, he didn't have that level of confidence in his own ability to do either of those to a high level.

Luka Garza Was Solid Once Again

Garza is a player in a difficult situation in the Celtics rotation as he seems to be the third rotational big man. However, he has not allowed this to stop him from making a statement to earn more minutes for the regular season, finishing this game with 13 points and 6 rebounds.

Garza's ability to make threes will be something that gives him a chance to earn extra minutes as he shot 2-4 from three against the 76ers. He is also proving to be an impactful rebounder as in 6 minutes he had 4 offensive rebounds, which will be an element of his game that Mazzulla will want to utilise at times.

Celtics End Preseason With A Perfect Record

With the victory over the 76ers it means the Celtics finished with a perfect 4-0 record.

Despite the perfect record there are many positives and negatives to take from each game. But this will fill Celtics fans with optimism going into their opening game of the season against the Detroit Pistons. Especially in terms of their younger players like Hugo, Jordan Walsh and Baylor Scheierman, who have all shown improvements in their games in each of the four preseason games.
