VERSAILLES, France — New Orleans Saints guard Cesar Ruiz missed the first two days of practice this week, but he may have a chance to play in the NFL’s first game in Paris.
The Saints listed Ruiz as questionable for Sunday’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers after the offensive lineman returned to practice Friday from a knee injury. Ruiz’s participation status was still listed as limited, which could lead the Saints to roll with rookie Jeremiah Wright this weekend.
But Ruiz’s return was promising given it looked like he suffered a serious-looking knee injury in last weekend’s win over the New York Giants.
“We’ll just see how he responds and how he goes from there,” coach Kellen Moore said.
The Saints also listed defensive lineman Nathan Shepherd as questionable with an illness. If Shepherd is out, he’ll miss his third straight game with the ailment. Moore declined to provide specifics on Shepherd’s situation, though he noted he was downgraded to a DNP on Friday after practicing earlier this week.
“Other than that, everyone is available and good to go,” Moore said.
