Welsh darts star Gerwyn Price has withdrawn from all exhibition performances for the remainder of 2026 and throughout 2027. The 41-year-old admits he needs to "take a break" as he focuses purely on PDC events.

Price has been back to his world-beating best for most of this year. The Markham-born thrower started 2026 in rocky form, but he's made four televised finals so far, including the World Matchplay and the World Grand Prix.

Whilst a TV title has eluded the Welshman, he did win on the floor in March at Players Championship 7 and claimed the European Darts Grand Prix in April, beating the in-form Ross Smith in the final. That victory in Sindelfingen brought his European Tour title tally to 10.

However, lingering in the background has been Price's new obsession: his 200-acre farm in South Wales. In April, Price purchased the Treharris property and admitted he was snowed under with renovation complications. He has since embraced the lifestyle shift.

Price, who is currently Wales' No. 1 arrowsmith after claiming the mantle from Jonny Clayton, is set to become a grandfather in the New Year. He also owns a chip shop called Chippy 501. All of this has likely contributed to him pulling out of exhibitions.

MODUS Sports Management and MDA Events were set to host many of the competitions in which Price was to compete. A joint statement confirmed his hiatus.

It read: "MODUS Sports Management and MDA Events regret to announce that Gerwyn Price will no longer be appearing in scheduled events for the remainder of 2026 and no appearances outside of PDC events in 2027 due to personal reasons.

"While this is devastating news for his fans and we understand existing ticket-holders' frustrations, we respect Gerwyn's decision and wish him well for the future. Replacement players have been arranged and communicated with current ticket holders."

Price also touched on his decision. He said: "I apologise for these last-minute withdrawals and hope my fans will understand. I need to take a break from non-PDC work for the foreseeable future.

"MODUS and MDA are fully supportive of my decision and I thank them for their understanding. I hope in the future I can work with them once again."

Price's latest PDC appearance came at the European Championship in Dortmund. He beat former world champion Rob Cross in round one and demolished Cameron Menzies in the last 16.

The Welshman would have had his eyes on the title after averaging over 103 and beating Stephen Bunting 10-3 in the quarter-finals, but eventual tournament winner Ross Smith bested him 11-7 in the semi-finals and sent him packing.

He remarked online after the loss: "I'd have lost in the final anyway. Onto the next. Great weekend for me again. Back to farming tomorrow."
