A season to forget.
The Washington Commanders are off to a nightmare start in 2026, with their only triumph coming against the Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks. Go figure. Otherwise, Washington has dropped four of its six games and tied one.
And that tie is what really broke the Commanders' back.
Primed to defeat the division-leading Giants, Jayden Daniels watched as the clock ticked down in overtime. Unable to spike the ball in time, the Commanders settled for a tie and that might just be the thing that prevents them from making the playoffs in a weak NFC East.
They didn't help themselves with a no-show in the first half against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 6, especially as the comeback attempt fell short. Now head coach Dan Quinn finds himself on the hot seat and there are more questions than answers moving forward.
Perhaps a break is exactly what the doctor ordered.
Here's a look at their record, NFC East standings and remaining schedule as the season continues.
The Commanders are not playing in Week 7. They join the Buffalo Bills, Jacksonville Jaguars and Los Angeles Chargers as the four NFL teams getting the week off before returning to action in Week 8.
