“Anyone caught with or using pyrotechnics or weapons inside Victoria Park will be ejected from the ground, banned from attending matches and reported to the relevant authorities.”
That’s the message from Buckie Thistle ahead of this weekend’s Highland League match against neighbours Deveronvale.
The Banffshire derby clash has gained a reputation in recent seasons as a volatile one, with disorder between the two sets of fans and flares being lit and thrown.
Buckie are keen to avoid more of the trouble that marred two fixtures against Vale in 2025, and say repeat incidents will not be tolerated.
A Jags’ statement read: “We are working closely with Police Scotland and Deveronvale FC after the crowd trouble at this fixture in March and November last year, and as a result, security searches will again take place on entry to the ground.
“Anyone refusing to be searched could be refused entry to the match, as per SFA ground regulations.
“Police will be deployed externally, assisting at the turnstiles if required, and patrolling Buckie before, during and after the fixture to prevent any disorder.
“A reminder to fans attending Saturday's match that it is illegal in Scotland to carry any weapons or pyrotechnics, such as flares and fireworks, at sporting events.”
Saturday’s game could have a higher attendance than normal, with Buckie in need of support from their community in the midst of a financial crisis.
Supporters attending Saturday’s match will be segregated, with Deveronvale fans able to enter the ground at the school end through the large gate to the right of the Victoria Lounge, where turnstiles will be in use.
Home fans can enter through the normal turnstiles to the left of the main entrance.
"The Scottish FA prohibits the use of pyrotechnics in stadiums, including fireworks, flares, smoke canisters, and other dangerous items,” Buckie added.
“It is a criminal offence to bring pyrotechnics into a sporting stadium in Scotland.”
