Unai Emery discussed a 6-0 win for Aston Villa against Fenerbahçe.
The Villans earned their first victory of the campaign five weeks ago when they defeated Club Brugge 3-2 on the road to kick off their new Champions League schedule on a positive note.
They have now backed up that result with their first triumph of the season at Villa Park through goals from Johan Manzambi, Nicolas Jackson, Ross Barkley and Tammy Abraham.
The Villans might not be back to their best level from previous years, but there are signs of a team coming together.
For Emery, it is now a case of showcasing consistency through the performance at Newcastle United.
“Fantastic night, fantastic. Champions League is the competition where we can feel comfortable and competing in the direction we did today, the direction we did in the first match against Brugge.
“It’s very difficult. We are not contenders to get this trophy. There are a lot of teams, very important teams and very powerful teams to be contenders and to be favourites to win this competition.
“But two years ago, we achieved quarter-finals through our consistency, through our ambitions, through our demands, and how we started this season in this competition is really fantastic.
“To enjoy with our supporters, days like tonight, against a team like Fenerbahçe, the result is so much for them. Today is a good night for the supporters, for us, here in Villa Park, the first win.
