Rangers have started the Scottish Premiership season strongly, and have three of their players making it to the top 10
Derek McInnes took a while to get a tune out of his players, and he will be delighted to see that they have won seven out of the last eight games and are capable of mounting a serious title challenge.
Last season, the Gers fell short before the split, and the onus is now on McInnes to ensure that they remain consistent until the end of the season.
Surprisingly, no Rangers player makes the top three, with the Celtic trio of Auston Trusty, Benjamin Nygren and Kieran Tierney occupying the podium spaces. Nicolas Raskin in fourth is the top-ranked Light Blues player with an Elo rating of 1548.
The Belgian has done exceptionally since his move to Ibrox and has earned himself a regular spot in the national team. He was an important player for Belgium at the World Cup and has consistently done well at the domestic level as well.
The second-highest Rangers player may come as a surprise to most fans, as it is John Souttar. The out-of-favour centre-back is in eighth place with 1465 rating points.
Summer signing Badredine Bouanani is the third-highest Gers player, just making it into the top 10. His rating of 1449 makes him good enough for 10th place.

Elo originates from chess and is a relative strength rating. In terms of football, a player’s rating is calculated based on his performances, taking into account the rating of his team versus his opponent’s.
Rather than raw output, it measures performance against expectation. That means that a player can gain Elo even if they do not add to the important stats, as long as their team exceeds expectations and he contributes at or above the level demanded by his position.
The ratings take into consideration overall quality rather than pure recent form. The system basically accumulates evidence over time.
McInnes or the Rangers players will not be too worried by these ratings and will continue doing what has been working for them.
