Police footage challenges viral story of 3-year-old kicked out of soccer league for being “too good”

New details have emerged about the three-year-old soccer prodigy who went viral after his parents claimed police were called because he was “too good” at the sport.

Nevada, a young soccer player from Florida, made headlines after his parents shared a video of police asking them to leave a youth soccer game on October 23.

His parents claimed the league had kicked him out because other children couldn’t take the ball from him, sparking widespread outrage online.

However, police records and body-camera footage obtained by The Guardian have revealed a different account of the incident, with organizers claiming the dispute involved Nevada’s parents and his behavior toward other children.

According to The Guardian, police were called after a league organizer reported a confrontation with Nevada’s parents, rather than because of the toddler’s soccer abilities.

The organizer acknowledged that Nevada was unusually talented but claimed he had been pushing other children during the game.

He also told officers that he had been rotating players to ensure everyone received equal playing time, something consistent with the league’s approach to youth sports.

In a 911 call obtained by the publication, the organizer alleged that one of Nevada’s parents had been following him, calling him names, and livestreaming their confrontation.

The parents, meanwhile, maintained that their son had been unfairly singled out because of his abilities.

Officers did not witness the original disagreement and ultimately treated the incident as a civil matter. No arrests were made, and a refund for Nevada’s registration was discussed.

Viral soccer star attracts attention from celebrities

Despite the controversy, Nevada’s popularity has continued to grow, with his Instagram account crossing a million followers and his TikTok reaching 1.2 million followers as of October 28.

His story has attracted attention from celebrities including children’s entertainer Ms Rachel and US soccer player Alex Freeman, while civil rights attorney Ben Crump has also commented on the incident.

Jay-Z’s sports and entertainment agency Roc Nation has even offered to fly Nevada to Spain for an athletic experience.

Meanwhile, a GoFundMe launched to support his soccer journey had raised more than $49,000 by October 28, surpassing its original $30,000 goal.

Although the police records provide additional context about the confrontation, the accounts from Nevada’s parents and the league organizer remain disputed.
