Alfie Poyser struck gold at the World’s Strongest Man Under-23 Championship in Scotland.
The former Bishop’s Stortford High School student, who is the reigning UK champion at the same age group, saw off the competition in Paisley to claim his first junior global title.
Poyser was up against 15 rivals and took the honours in three of the five events.
The Little Hallingbury athlete began by completing 16 reps in the 320kg trap bar deadlift to finish first.
He came second in the 60kg dumbbell press with 12 reps before being fourth in the farmer’s hold (150kg a hand) with a time of 25sec.
Poyser, who runs online coaching business Poyser Strength Coaching and is also a teacher at Dr Walker’s C of E Primary School in Ongar, loaded all five bags in 33sec to triumph in the sandbag carry and load.
And he successfully loaded the 140kg Atlas stone 10 times - four more than his closest competitor - to also take the win in the final event.
Poyser had previously finished third in England’s Strongest Junior in 2023 and second in World’s Strongest Junior the following year.
He also competed in the World Open Men Strongman finals last year in Arlington, Texas, where his mum, Carly, defended her world’s strongest adaptive athlete crown.
Poyser is coached by Tom Hibbert, of Winning Strength, and his nutrition is handled by Will Clarke, of Leaner, Stronger, Faster.
His rehab is covered by Mike Croft, of Sawbridgeworth-based Stronger Health, and he is sponsored by Silverback Gymwear and Odd Objects.
