Cardinals 18, Rams 16: 5 observations on offense in Week 6 win

Here is what we saw from the offense in the Cardinals' 18-16 win over the Rams in Week 6.

The Arizona Cardinals snapped a four-game losing streak on Sunday and beat the Los Angeles Rams 18-16 on the road. It took a last-second 43-yard field goal from kicker Chad Ryland.

It wasn't a very pretty game offensively, but they did just enough. They gained 338 yards on the afternoon.

What did we see from the offense on Sunday?

Red-zone struggles again

While the Cardinals were able to move the ball, they just couldn't find the end zone. They made five red-zone trips and scored zero touchdowns. Three of their red-zone trips had goal-to-go situations. That's how they ended up kicking six field goals.

Bam Knight stepped up

Knight got to play with rookie Jeremiyah Love out with an ankle injury, and his numbers resembled what fans would love to see Love do. He had 80 rushing yards on 15 attempts, and he had a 31-yard run. He also caught two passes for 18 yards, giving him a team-high 98 yards from scrimmage.

Catches but few yards again

Tight end Trey McBride, the NFL leader in receptions entering the week, added another seven against the Rams. However, he only had 53 yards. It was the fifth consecutive game averaging less than nine yards per catch and the fourth time in five games he averaged less than eight.

He had a 26-yard reception, too, which means he gained 27 on his other six catches. This isn't getting enough out of him.

Receiver Michael Wilson had four catches for 30 yards.

More feast or famine

The Cardinals don't really do in-between. On Sunday, they had four drives with at least 10 plays. They had four that were only three plays, either turning the ball over or going three-and-out.

Redemption for Jalen Brooks

One of the issues the Cardinals might have with moving on from Marvin Harrison Jr. is having a career fringe roster player like Jalen Brooks in the game in critical moments at receiver. Brooks had two catches for 30 yards on three targets. He came up big with the 21-yard catch that led to the game-winning field goal, but he also had a third-down drop on the previous possession.
