England opener Ben Duckett continued his outstanding form in the Pakistan ODI Tri-Series with another impressive century against Sri Lanka. The left-handed batter reached the milestone during the sixth match of the tournament at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.

Duckett had scored 105 off 111 balls against Pakistan earlier in the series and carried that form into the contest against Sri Lanka. He continued to punish the bowlers after reaching three figures, moving past 150 runs and setting another milestone in England’s ODI history.

Ben Duckett and Tom Banton give England a flying start

Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bowl first, but their decision failed to produce an early breakthrough. Duckett and Tom Banton took advantage of the batting-friendly conditions to put together a commanding 163-run opening partnership. Banton contributed 74 runs off 75 deliveries, hitting eight fours and two sixes before Dasun Shanaka bowled him in the 25th over.

England captain Harry Brook then joined Duckett and continued the aggressive approach, adding 44 runs off 34 balls, including three fours and two sixes. However, Asitha Fernando dismissed Brook to give Sri Lanka their second breakthrough. Will Jacks joined Duckett at the crease and got off the mark with a boundary as England continued to pile on the runs.

Duckett joins Andrew Strauss and Jason Roy in ODI record books

Duckett’s innings took him to an unbeaten 167 off 132 balls, with 24 boundaries, as England continued to dominate the Sri Lankan attack. By crossing 150, he became only the third opening batter in England’s ODI history to score at least 150 runs in two separate innings, joining Andrew Strauss and Jason Roy.

Sri Lanka’s bowlers struggled to contain the scoring on a batting-friendly surface. With Duckett still at the crease alongside Jacks, England remained in a strong position to post a formidable total despite the loss of two wickets.
