Designated as National Tight Ends Day throughout the NFL, Oct. 25 proved appropriate for South Point football product and Atlanta Falcons tight end Nick Muse to make his presence known.
Already possessing a career laden with milestones, Muse added another Sunday, bringing down his first career touchdown reception in Atlanta’’s 29-20 win over San Francisco.
Midway through the second quarter, Atlanta quarterback Michael Penix found Muse alone in the end zone for a TD. The play capped a 10-play, 68-yard drive, trimming the Falcons’ deficit to 14-9 at the time. He finished with two receptions for two yards and the aforementioned TD.
For Muse, it was his first reception in nearly three years. His previous NFL catch was on Jan. 7, 2024, a 22-yard catch in a loss to Detroit.
His TD catch it the fuse on a 17-point run for the Falcons, helping them end a two-game losing skid and hand San Francisco its first loss of the 2026 campaign. Atlanta upped its record to 3-4 with the win.
The Belmont native was selected by the Minnesota Vikings in the seventh round of the 2022 NFL Draft. He’s since made stops in Philadelphia — where he helped the Eagles to the Super Bowl LIX title — as well as Arizona, Los Angeles (Rams), New York (Jets) and Detroit before signing with Atlanta this past August.
Muse has largely contributing as a member of the Falcons' special teams unit this fall. He’s been in on eight tackles thus far, including the one he was credited with in Sunday's win. Muse has nine career tackles.
Prior to making his mark in the NFL, Muse helped South Point to the 2016 NCHSAA 3A state championship. He followed that with a college career where he starred at William & Mary and South Carolina, catching 101 career passes for 1,303 yards and five TDs.
