alco1 Alco1 joined BFW in November of 2019, after having followed the site since 2014. Fluent in Spanish, English and German, he previously lived and studied in Munich in 2011. However, it wasn’t until the 2012-13 season that he started following Bayern Munich almost religiously, watching Bayern’s matches every Saturday at 7:30 a.m. For years, starting in 2019, he volunteered with proofreading and editing, before joining the team officially in 2021, and eventually mainly coordinating the postgame aspect on gamedays from around 2022.
Bayern Munich returned to winning ways for the first time since the international break when they beat RB Leipzig 6-1 on Saturday, having had drawn twice in a row against FC Augsburg in the Bundesliga, and Viking FK in the Champions League. Now, the Bavarians are set to face Arsenal FC in the return of the Champions League, a massive game that will surely put the Germans to the test.
One relevant aspect of Wednesday’s game will be the absence of superstar Michael Olise, who is suspended after receiving a double yellow card in Bayern’s recent trip to Norway against Viking FK. After smashing RB Leipzig, the midfielder gave an interview to Sky (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), lamenting the fact that the Frenchman will not be available for the game. “We have one or two players carrying knocks from today, I hope it’s nothing serious. Michael [Olise] will be unavailable due to the red card. Obviously, that makes things a bit more difficult for us, especially when it comes to replacing him in a top match like this,” said Kimmich.
However, the German international remains confident that whoever replaces Olise has the quality to fill in the void in the attack. “But we have plenty of quality in the squad and will give it everything we’ve got. I’m really looking forward to the game.”
The match will be the most difficult test for the Rekordmeister in the season so far, but the Bavarians will hopefully add another win on their record against the London side, after having been beaten by the Gunners 3-1 last season.
