Jesper Sorensen has urged his Vancouver Whitecaps side to "keep our competitiveness" ahead of their Decision Day clash with rivals CF Montreal on Saturday.
Vancouver secured top spot in the Western Conference last time out with a 5-1 win over the Seattle Sounders.
The Whitecaps are in good form; after a run of four winless games (D3 L1), Vancouver have won three of their last four (L1) and scored nine goals in their last two games.
However, they have already lost to Montreal this season, losing 3-2 on aggregate in the Canadian Championship semi-finals after Montreal won the second leg 2-1 at home.
Sorensen wants a better result this time around, with the playoffs swiftly approaching.
"To try and win the game, of course, like I approach every time," Sorensen said when asked about his approach to the Montreal game.
"Obviously, we played there already once this year, and it didn't work out the best for us. Hopefully, we are going to be better this time.
"We will, of course, have one eye on the shorter term and one eye on the longer term [regarding team selection].
"It's also important that we keep our competitiveness and also the good performances we have had as of late, that we keep that going."

While Vancouver are top of the East, Montreal are rock bottom of the division, with just 26 points to their name.
They did manage to salvage a 1-1 draw with New York City FC on Saturday, eliminating the latter from playoff contention.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
CF Montreal – Prince Owusu
Prince Owusu enters the final match of the season with a team-high 21 direct goal contributions (15 goals, six assists) for Montreal.
Only Ignacio Piatti (three times) and Marco Di Vaio (in 2013) have more goal contributions in a single regular season for Montreal in the club's MLS history.
Vancouver Whitecaps – Brian White
Brian White scored twice in Vancouver's win over Seattle on Sunday to take him to 20 goals in the 2026 regular season.
White needs two goals on the final day of the season to equal the Whitecaps' single-season scoring record of 22, set by Camilo Sanvezzo in 2013.
MATCH PREDICTION: VANCOUVER WHITECAPS WIN
Vancouver enter the final match of the season on 61 points, having already secured the top seed in the West. A win would give the club a new single-season points record, surpassing the 63 they collected last year.
Montreal have won only two of their last 22 regular-season matches dating back to mid-May (D8 L12), including collecting just two points from their last six (D2 L4). No team has collected fewer points than Montreal's 14 since that run began on May 13.
However, Montreal are unbeaten in seven straight at home against the Whitecaps in all competitions, last losing at home in April 2017.
