Dominik Szoboszlai is unlikely to be out for too long, but Liverpool will have to have "patience" with him, Andoni Iraola said.
At the very least, the Hungarian will sit out the visit of Villarreal this week, and it seems unlikely that he would feature against Brighton on Sunday. No risks should be taken, even though Szoboszlai felt that he was fit enough to come back into the starting XI against Brentford.
Fortunately for Iraola, though, another player is ready to step up. When Szoboszlai limped off at the Gtech on Saturday, it was Trey Nyoni who leaped off the bench.
"Trey is a player that I think, being very young with not a lot of minutes in the first team, he's very mature," Iraola said last week.
"He understands the situations very well, he understands the game very well. Tactically, I think he’s really smart.
"But he has to continue doing the steps in the right direction. I’m confident with him. He has been involved, I think, in most of the last games, but he has to keep this level of performance, of training.
"If he has to play as a six, as an eight, he has to play one minute, he doesn't have to play, he has to start and play all the game like yesterday. He has to be there, putting pressure also on the other midfielders."
Nyoni never looks fazed, and if he can impress away at Brentford, a home game with Villarreal this week should be even more up his street. He might be an England youth international, but his playing style could easily pass for being Spanish.
With matches against Villarreal (in Europe) and then Chelsea (in the Carabao Cup) coming up, Nyoni should be eyeing minutes there, when Iraola is even likelier to make some changes to his side.
Around that, he is more than capable of featuring against Brighton, Arsenal, and Crystal Palace in the Premier League too.

"I don't get nervous," Nyoni said after impressing against LASK in Europe last Wednesday.
"With all the hard work I have put in to get to this moment and position, no. I just want to show the manager and everyone what I can do, show the fans what I can do."
Whether it is from the start or off the bench once again, Nyoni should get another chance to do just that against Villarreal in the Champions League this week.
