Bryson DeChambeau left the PGA Tour to join LIV Golf way back in June 2022.

DeChambeau has enjoyed plenty of success on LIV Golf, with five wins to his name, and he is one of only two players who have managed to win major championships while playing on the league.

The 33-year-old from Dallas won the US Open in Pinehurst in 2024, but it has been a big struggle for him in the majors since then.

And now Bryson DeChambeau faces a really uncertain future with LIV Golf, after Saudi Arabia’s PIF withdrew their funding from the league at the end of last season.

DeChambeau has been linked with a PGA Tour return from LIV Golf, but as things stand, nothing has been officially confirmed regarding his future.

One thing is clear though: the landscape on LIV Golf 2.0 is set to change significantly, with purses and the strength of fields set to diminish.

We will soon find out whether DeChambeau believes in LIV Golf as much as he claimed he did back in 2022.

Bryson DeChambeau shared why he really joined LIV in his first press conference

During his first ever press conference after joining LIV Golf in 2022, DeChambeau was asked what made him leave the PGA Tour to join the league.

“One of the things for me it was a personal business decision,“ the two-time major champion replied.

“For me I run and operate my golf as a business as well as wanting to be one of the better players in the world. Second off, it was going to give me more resources and opportunities to reinvest in my local community, in Dallas, and back at my original home in California where I can do things for junior golf tours.

“I can improve my foundation, and also build the multi-sport complex I’m going to build here shortly in Dallas, and also give me more time to rest. The ability to have weeks off and recover my body in the way I want to so that I can be prepared to give it my all when it comes time, not be depleted every week and continuing to get depleted over the course of time.

“So that was one of the things. And then the last part is I saw that first event in London and how much fun everybody was having. That was exciting to me. And I wanted to be a part of something like that.“

DeChambeau has also beat the drum about his desire to grow the game globally.

However, it must be said that it’s highly doubtful that any of the players who joined LIV would have done so in the first place without being paid the huge signing-on fees they received.

Talk is cheap, and so many golfers who joined LIV three or four years ago are now being made to look very silly by jumping ship as soon as the huge purses disappeared.

Now’s the time for action. Will DeChambeau show his support for LIV 2.0 or pursue a future with the PGA Tour? Only time will tell.
