This past year, New York Giants chairman and executive vice president Steve Tisch and his siblings transferred their remaining stake in the club to trusts for their children.
This came after it was revealed that Steve Tisch was linked to the late sex offender, Jeffrey Epstein. The Tisches shifted their interests to the future generation of their family, possibly to shield the Giants from any future mention or legal action in regard to Steve's relationship with Epstein.
Although they are no longer listed as owners, the Tisches are all still listed in their former positions on the team's board of directors. Steve remains chairman and EVP; Jonathan remains treasurer, and Laurie has retained her board seat.
The NFL reviewed Steve Tisch's behavior and saw no wrongdoing. Today, he is still welcome at NFL owners' events representing the Giants.
From Pro Football Talk:
On Wednesday, Commissioner Roger Goodell was asked about Tisch’s presence at the NFL’s quarterly ownership meetings. “I think we’re comfortable with him participating as the Giants suggest,” Goodell said.
Although Tisch no longer holds equity in Giants (his interest was transferred to his children’s trust), he continues to serve as te team’s chairman of the board. He was present in the team’s draft room. He has been at games.
Tisch’s role came into question once the Epstein files revealed a series of emails between Tisch and Jeffrey Epstein. Subsequent reporting raised questions regarding whether Epstein was arranging dates for Tisch, and whether Tisch was possibly using his influence in the film industry to leverage an exchange of favors.
The Giants are not going to take any punitive action, either. It appears they are willing to wait things out until the Epstein affair becomes yesterday's news.
