The Cowboys needed a third quarterback after losing Joe Milton off their practice squad. Milton signed with the Eagles this week after Philadelphia starter Jalen Hurts was lost for the season.
Dallas signed quarterback Kyle Trask to the practice squad, the team announced Tuesday.
He joins Dak Prescott and Sam Howell at the position.
Trask spent training camp with the Panthers, but has remained a free agent since they cut him Aug. 30.
He entered the NFL as a second-round pick of the Buccaneers in 2021.
Trask appeared in seven games with the Bucs, playing 32 total snaps. He is 4-of-11 for 28 yards.
He was briefly on the Falcons’ practice squad last season.
The Cowboys also announced they signed safety Juanyeh Thomas to the active roster from the practice squad. In a corresponding move, they waived cornerback Caelen Carson.
