George Foreman believed there was just one heavyweight that he would have struggled to defeat during his career.
‘Big George’ made his mark on the heavyweight division in the late 1960s, shortly after he captured an Olympic Gold Medal at the 1968 Summer Games in Mexico City.
He captured the world heavyweight championship in his 38th career bout with an impressive 2nd round stoppage victory over countryman Joe Frazier at the National Stadium of Kingston, Jamaica.
After taking a 10-year break from boxing between 1977 and 1987, Foreman eventually returned to the sport before etching his name into the history books in 1994 when he defeated Michael Moorer to claim the WBA and IBF titles and become the oldest heavyweight champion of all time.
In a shock past admission on social media, ‘Big George’ once admitted that he believes he would have fallen short against any version of Muhammad Ali, as he claims one showdown with his former rival was enough.
“Once in the ring with the great Ali was enough for me. If I’d changed my approach back then he’d [have] another plan. Nothing beats some fighters but time.”
Foreman and Ali locked horns in one of the greatest moments in boxing history back in October 1974, a bout that is more commonly known as ‘The Rumble In The Jungle’.
‘The Greatest’ absorbed numerous heavy shots from Foreman in the early stages of the bout before turning the tide to stop his countryman in the eighth round to capture the world heavyweight championship in what was considered a huge upset.
