It’s been three months since Spain won the 2026 FIFA World Cup, but FC Barcelona superstar Lamine Yamal is finally getting his flowers—literally.
The 19-year-old football pro was celebrated at the 70th Ballon D’Or ceremony yesterday in London, and awarded the prize for the best male young player of the year: the Men’s Young Talent award. And for the grand occasion, he traded his uniform for a slick black Chanel suit accessorized with a blooming pink flower brooch.
A sharp suit jacket with wide shoulders, silky lapels, and embellished golden buttons made up the top, and Yamal layered it over a black button-up and matching bow tie. Down low, he wore black suit pants and cool dress shoes. But the pièce de résistance was certainly his powder-pink Chanel flower brooch made of silk feathery petals.
Brooches began popping up in all the runways early in 2024, proving the accessory is not only for royals and fancy grandmas, but for the It girls and It guys too. Since then, some of our favorite stylish stars—from Bad Bunny to Pedro Pascal to Jacob Elordi—have been zhuzhing up their menswear with funky brooches, and now, Yamal has joined the party.
As he walked the red carpet at Palladium Theatre, the Spanish national team’s star forward was joined by his mom, Sheila Ebana, stepfather, and little brother, Keyne. The three-year-old “little Yamal” went viral during the World Cup as he was captured enthusiastically cheering for his brother during the matches. And for the big night, he too suited up.
This year’s Ballon D’Or ceremony was the first to be hosted outside of France or Switzerland. The move to the United Kingdom was to pay homage to English legend Sir Stanley Matthews, who won the inaugural Golden Ball exactly 70 years ago, in 1956. The star-studded night celebrated the best performances from the 2025–26 football season.
