Michael Carrick is under pressure at Manchester United(Image: Getty Images)
Michael Carrick's Manchester United future is hanging by a third following his side's 3-0 defeat against Bournemouth on Sunday. Goals from Rayan, Marcus Tavernier and Evanilson condemned the Reds to a third defeat in four and extended their winless run to eight matches in all competitions.
The result has increased the pressure on Carrick, who could be shown the door with United winning just two of their 12 games this season. They have slipped to 16th in the Premier League table, having earned seven points from a possible 24, and haven't won in the top-flight since defeating Ipswich Town in August.
Speaking post-match, Carrick looked downbeat and seemed uncertain whether he'll remain in charge for United's trip to Chelsea next Saturday. Meanwhile, Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher have both urged United to dismiss Carrick after the club stumbled to another loss and now sit just one point above the relegation zone.

Manchester United's hierarchy are now expected to fast-track the appointment of a new head coach, with insiders indicating that Michael Carrick will be dismissed , according to Sky Sports.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe and United's bosses believe a managerial change is necessary to reverse the club's dismal recent fortunes, with former Bayern Munich boss Julian Nagelsmann and ex-Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe emerging as the frontrunners.
However, the final decision on Carrick's successor is expected to rest with director of football Jason Wilcox and chief executive Omar Berrada, who will present their recommendation to co-owner Ratcliffe.
