Shea McGarry has signed his first professional contract with Celtic, committing his future to the club until June 2029.
Celtic confirmed the agreement on Friday, marking an important milestone for the 17-year-old defender.
McGarry has already made five appearances for the B team since arriving from Cliftonville.
We cover every Celtic transfer story from first link to done deal.
We covered his move from the Belfast club in July, when he joined Celtic’s academy setup.
He arrived with some senior experience, having played three first-team matches for Cliftonville while still an amateur.
The new agreement gives McGarry the opportunity to continue his development in Glasgow over the coming seasons.
His immediate focus will be building on those early B-team appearances and establishing himself at that level.
Moving from youth prospect to first-team football at Celtic is a demanding process, particularly for a young centre-back learning a position where mistakes can prove costly.
Regular matches and time on the training ground will be important as he adjusts to those demands.
Signing professional terms is an achievement worth recognising for McGarry and his family.
Having made the move from Belfast during the summer, he now has his first professional deal secured and a chance to work towards the next step in the hoops. Hopefully, he can be shown a path to the first team.
