Caroline Dubois calls out 'disrespectful' Alycia Baumgardner, eyes '27 clash

Caroline Dubois has set out the roadmap for a fight against Alycia Baumgardner and called out the American's "disrespectful" comments.

Unified junior lightweight champion Baumgardner (18-1, 7 KOs) will step up to the lightweight division on Sunday, headlining MVPW07 against IBF champion Elif Nur Turhan in Arlington, Texas.

Not only is a clash between Baumgardner and Turhan (14-0, 8 KOs) a huge fight in its own right, but the winner will be set on course for an undisputed fight, with Dubois facing WBA title holder Stephanie Han on Feb. 20 in El Paso, Texas.

Dubois has long called for a fight against Baumgardner, but the American has often dismissed the possibility, even calling Dubois as a "puppy" last year.

However, as unified 135 pound champion, Dubois has now established herself as one of the best fighters in the world and believes a clash with Baumgardner is inevitable.

"I said after her last fight, the smartest move for her is to move up and fight Elif Turhan," Dubois told ESPN.

"I go and unify against [Stephanie] Han ... She hopefully wins her fight and then we set up the biggest fight in women's box in 2027.

"I think she's been very disrespectful to me up until this point. Every fight I've done, every fight I've won, she finds something negative to say and has never said: 'Yeah, Caroline is a world champion and she's in this position for a reason.'

"I think she's a disrespectful person, but I think that disrespect comes from a feeling of being threatened. She can't give somebody their credit and their flowers.

"I'm aware of how she carries herself and I don't like it. Seeing her come out after my fight, she has something negative to say. I bring that energy face to face. I'm not just someone who's tweeting online. I'll come step to the person and see what they have to say."

Dubois will be ringside in Texas for MVPW07 on Sunday and is ready to go face-to-face with Baumgardner if she wins, just as the pair did after Dubois defended her titles against Amelia Moore in England in August.

MVP co-founder Nakisa Bidarian told ESPN their priority for the lightweight division is unification fights next year, given all the champions are signed with the promotion.

"It allows us, as long as the fighters are willing and able and it the economics are logical to make the biggest fights in the sport," Bidarian said.

"Whether it's Elif or Alycia that comes out ... We'll see what happens with Caroline and Stephanie. I'm hoping we're on an 18-month path to undisputed in this division."

Bidarian said the fight is a big moment in the career of Baumgardner, who MVP have invested significantly in with an eye to the future.

"We've been in business with Alycia for about a year-and-a-half now," Bidarian said. "She was co-main on two massive Netflix cards, she was the headliner on our first event with ESPN. We've positioned her as the face of women's boxing for the future as Amanda [Serrano] tails off into the sunset.

"This is a massive fight. [Turhan is] a dangerous opponent, unbelievable power in her hands. What I love about Alycia is there's no hesitation. This is a fight she wanted."
