Xabi Alonso could reportedly see a previous Real Madrid wish granted with Chelsea prepared to spend big money on Como star Nico Paz. The 22-year-old announced himself on the European stage with a scintillating display in the Champions League against Manchester United.
Paz grabbed a brace and assisted another in the Serie A side's 4-1 victory on Wednesday evening with the occasion leaving him in awe.
He said: "It has been one of the most beautiful nights of my career. I'm still young, but I will never forget it. I used to dream of playing in a match like this, and tonight we've gone even further. It's a historic night for Como fans."
The Blues were actually interested prior to his display against their domestic rivals, however. That is according to Italian outlet Tuttomercatoweb, who have stated that Chelsea are not put off by the "fortune" it would take to sign him.
Como paid Real Madrid €60million (£50.2m) this past summer to keep hold of his services with the attacking midfielder costing just €6million (£5.2m) when he moved between the two clubs in the summer of 2024.

Los Blancos included a sell-on and buy-back clause in his contract for that switch given his potential. Alonso was in charge of Real when that first clause, worth just €8million (£6.7m), was active and he was interested in bringing Paz back to the Bernabeu.
While that move did not materialise, Alonso certainly kept an eye on Paz during his Real tenure and he was asked about the player following his goal for Como against Juventus in October 2025.
He said: “For sure Nico made a very intelligent step joining Como last year. Of course I watched Juventus vs Como, he and they did very well." The Argentine finished that season with 13 goals and eight assists from 40 matches.
Despite only appearing for a quarter of that tally, Paz is already just under halfway to his returns from last season having managed nine direct goal contributions in all competitions.
Paz would undoubtedly be a great signing for Chelsea but it is unclear where he would fit in Alonso's system considering record-signing Morgan Rogers and talisman Cole Palmer, who recently signed a new contract, are the two floating No.10s.
The Blues are likely to be back in Europe next season and will therefore need a bigger squad but other areas of the pitch, such as midfield, should and are likely to be bigger priorities.
Exactly how much Paz would cost is also a factor, with it likely to be in the triple-figures, and considering £117m was spent on Rogers in the summer, it remains to be seen if the club would part with similar money for a player in the same position.
