Could the Green Bay Packers use a trade to provide another potential answer at right guard?
While there is no reported interest as of Monday morning, a few NFL analysts see Philadelphia Eagles guard Landon Dickerson as a potentially attractive trade target for the Packers ahead of next Tuesday's deadline.
Conor Orr of SI.com included Dickerson to the Packers among his 10 "dream deals" for this year's trade deadline.
"We can ask ourselves how much more of an improvement the 28-year-old would be over the sea of veteran bandages the team has already signed. It’s certainly a fair question. Dickerson has center versatility and was the 2020 Rimington Trophy winner as the best guard in the country at Alabama. The Packers had to plug in their third-string center, John Williams, to take his first career NFL snaps Sunday against the Lions," Orr wrote.
Dickerson, a second-round pick of the Eagles in the 2021 draft, went to the Pro Bowl during the 2022, 2023 and 2024 seasons. He's still only 28 years old and can play guard and center, and the Eagles might turn out to be sellers with Jalen Hurts out and a 2-6 record through eight games.
Jeremy Fowler and Matt Bowen of ESPN included Dickerson among 25 potential trade candidates at the deadline, with the Packers as one of Dickerson's best fits.
From Bowen's breakdown: "A Week 1 injury sent Dickerson to injured reserve, but he returned this past Monday. And when healthy, Dickerson can move defenders off the ball as a run blocker in both zone and gap schemes, and he can set an anchor in pass protection to handle power down his middle with his 6-6, 332-pound frame. In five seasons with the Eagles, Dickerson has a pass block win rate of 93.9%."
Fowler estimated Dickerson as having a 25 percent chance of being traded before the deadline, but that prediction came before the Eagles lost to the Commanders and fell to last place in the NFC East on Sunday night.
Dickerson has played most of his career snaps at left guard, where the Packers already have Aaron Banks and Laken Tomlinson as starting options, but Dickerson does have snaps played at center and right guard. Sean Rhyan will miss at least two and maybe three more games, while the right guard position remains in flux despite adding Kevin Zeitler and Mekhi Becton.
Financially, Dickerson's current deal would be easy to fit into the salary cap for 2026 given his low base salary. He has low base salaries and option bonuses in his deal for 2027 and 2028.
It's certainly possible the Packers like what they have in Banks, Tomlinson, Zeitler, Becton and Travis Glover at guard and will stand pat in terms of adding help along the offensive line at the deadline. But Dickerson could provide a big upgrade for a run-blocking group that desperately needs a spark after eight games.
