According to ESPN's experts, Kansas City Chiefs superstar shot-caller Patrick Mahomes is the eighth-best fantasy football quarterback heading into Week 9 of the 2026 NFL season.
Mahomes took a massive leap in the rankings this week after an impressive performance in the Chiefs' Week 8 loss to the Denver Broncos, when he threw for 321 yards, three touchdowns, and zero interceptions.
For those considering starting Mahomes this week, here are his predicted stats against the New York Jets at Arrowhead Stadium:
The return of wide receiver Rashee Rice has already proved advantageous for Mahomes, who found the former SMU Mustang once in the end zone last week.
While Kansas City shops around for someone to fill wide receiver Tyquan Thornton's spot, the two-time MVP should have no trouble posting impressive numbers with Rice on the field.
The Jets' defense is allowing just under 200 yards per game this season, but Mahomes will be arguably the best quarterback they've faced so far. The three-time Super Bowl MVP should be able to put up around 200 yards and two touchdowns.
