Barcelona head into one of the most important weeks of their season with little room for error after a damaging night in European competition.
Hansi Flick’s side have built their attacking identity around quick combinations and midfielders capable of breaking defensive lines.
That approach has helped them compete for major honours, but it also places significant demands on players expected to contribute in several areas of the pitch.
Dani Olmo has become an important part of that system since returning to his boyhood club in 2024.
His ability to operate between the lines gives Barcelona another creative outlet alongside their established attacking stars.
With Real Madrid waiting in a crucial domestic showdown, Flick has now received a setback that could force him to rethink his midfield options.
Dani Olmo will be sidelined for approximately one month after medical tests revealed an injury to his left adductor muscle, ruling him out of Sunday’s El Clasico against Real Madrid, as reported by SPORT.
The injury occurred around the 26th minute at the Parc des Princes, when PSG midfielder Vitinha stood on Olmo’s leg during a challenge.
The Spain international immediately appeared uncomfortable and received attention from Barcelona’s medical staff, but he was unable to continue.
Fermin Lopez replaced him, leaving Flick to reorganise his midfield before half-time.
The timing is particularly frustrating because Dani Olmo had been enjoying a sustained period of availability.
His previous injury was a shoulder dislocation in December 2025, after which he returned to action and went on to feature in 44 consecutive matches for Barcelona.
That run included 32 appearances during the previous campaign and all 12 of the club’s matches this season before the PSG encounter.
Flick will now have to consider alternatives in a midfield that loses one of its most versatile attacking options.
