The race for the European Golden Shoe is heating up, and here, SPORTbible looks at how the top 10 is shaping up during the 2026/27 campaign.
The Golden Shoe is presented to the top scorer in the top division of any European national league. Harry Kane claimed the accolade last season after scoring 36 goals in the Bundesliga, beating the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland to the award.
Kane is a leading contender to win it for a second successive year - but several players are looking to stop the Englishman - and here is the current state of play as the 2026/27 campaign continues to throw up excitement.

Raphinha has become the centrepiece of Hansi Flick's star-studded attack, operating as an unconventional centre-forward in the German's fluid system.
The Brazilian, who scored 13 goals in La Liga last term, is setting a relentless standard in the race for the Golden Shoe, notably scoring two hat-tricks against Racing Santander and Sevilla.
A blistering start to the 2026/27 campaign has only fuelled the former Leeds United maverick to become the first Brazilian since Mario Jardel at Porto in 2001/02 to win the Golden Shoe.

It wouldn't be a race for the European Golden Shoe without Real Madrid superstar Mbappe.
Arguably the best player on the planet, Mbappe continues to destroy defences in his pursuit of the best individual awards. In 2024/25, he became the first French player to win the Golden Shoe since Thierry Henry in 2004–05 after sealing his mega-money transfer to the Bernabeu.
After missing out on the award to Harry Kane by nine goals in 2025/26, the former Paris Saint-Germain forward is hungrier than ever to get his hands on this award for the second time, and his blistering start to the season suggests he will be there or thereabouts.

Generational talent Lamine Yamal is bidding to become the youngest player to win the Golden Shoe, beating Brazilian legend Ronaldo Nazario, who won the award aged just 20 after scoring 34 goals for Barcelona during the 1996/97 campaign.
Yamal doesn't turn 20 until mid-July 2027, and he will be motivated by the chance to break Ronaldo's record.
The Spaniard has certainly given himself a great opportunity to create history after a blistering start to the campaign, as he continues to prove why he's the most talented teenager in world football.

Another season, same old Haaland. The Norwegian has set the Premier League alight with his unstoppable goalscoring as he chases down a fourth Golden Boot.
Surprisingly, despite never dropping below 22 goals in a single league campaign since joining City from Borussia Dortmund, the 26-year-old has never won the Golden Shoe.
A title charge under Enzo Maresca will give him every chance of changing that narrative, but he will have to surpass several world-class operators, notably Harry Kane, Raphinha, Yamal and Mbappe.

Ante Budimir is ageing like a fine wine. The 35-year-old is still banging in goals for fun at Osasuna, as he continues to make his presence felt as one of Europe's most prolific centre-forwards.
In fact, the Croatian international hasn't dropped below the 17-goal mark across the previous three LaLiga campaigns, underlining his qualities as a clinical finisher for a team that survived relegation on goal difference at Mallorca's expense last term.
Remarkably, only fellow veteran Vedat Muriqi (23) and Real Madrid's Mbappe (25) found the net more times than Budimir during 2025/26. That trend of him chasing down the division's leading scorers looks set to continue in 2026/27.

Sergio Camello wasn't a name many expected to see towards the top of Europe's top scorers. The former Spain under-21 international had only scored 22 goals in 138 appearances for Rayo Vallecano before this campaign.
But the 25-year-old - who joined Rayo permanently from Atletico Madrid for €5million in August 2023 - has flipped the narrative in 2026/27 and finally demonstrated the clinical edge that supporters have been desperate to see.
An energetic, mobile centre-forward who excels at pressing, linking play, and making intelligent runs behind defensive lines, Camello has proven to be a thorn in the side for most LaLiga defences this term.

Rennes secured a bargain when they signed Esteban Lepaul from Angers for a reported €13.5million plus bonuses in August 2025.
The clinical Frenchman finished as Ligue 1's top scorer with 21 goals last term to help Rennes book their place in the Europa League.
He has since made his debut for France during the September/October international break and continued his red-hot club form, joining some of Europe's biggest names in the Golden Shoe race.

Yassir Zabiri only joined newly promoted Racing Santander on a season-long loan from Rennes in July, but the 21-year-old has already made himself a fan favourite with the Spanish side.
The Moroccan international has impressed with his sharp off-ball movement, high-energy pressing and, of course, his clinical goalscoring as he continues to jostle the league's elite for a place towards the top of the scoring charts.
No African player has ever won the Golden Shoe and, while it's unlikely Zabiri will challenge the leading players across Europe for that award, he's already set a lot of eyes on his talent this season.

After joining Frosinone on loan from Bologna last term and scoring 11 goals to help them win promotion to Serie A, Antonio Raimondo returned to the club on loan for a second time and is now lighting up Italy's top division.
Still only 22, Raimondo has become one of Serie A's most potent finishers and is already attracting interest from giants Juventus.
The striker will only continue to see his value skyrocket if he keeps up his electric form, having established himself among the top scorers across Europe's big five leagues.

Some players just suit Italian football perfectly, and after firing 14 goals in his first 18 appearances for Roma following his loan move from Aston Villa in January 2026, Donyell Malen knew that Serie A was his playground.
Unlike at Villa Park, where he scored just 10 times in 46 matches, the Dutchman has demonstrated an unstoppable level of scoring power under Gian Piero Gasperini, continuing that trend since joining Roma permanently for €25million last summer.
Malen has been on fire in Serie A and sits proudly alongside some esteemed names in the race for the Golden Shoe, with the 27-year-old galvanising a title charge in 2026/27.
