The 1-1 draw saw Pearce rescue a point with a late equaliser, but he says the team will need to improve as they head into a busy run of fixtures.
The Minstermen are set to face Newport County away before hosting Accrington Stanley on Tuesday night.
Commenting on last weekend's performance, Pearce said: "I was pleased with the reaction second half, I thought we had a really good go, but especially at home, not happy about dropping two points but it is what it is and we have to move on to the weekend.
"We analysed the game and looked at parts we did not do so well and hopefully we can take that into the weekend.
"Like I say, the good thing is we had a good reaction second half.
"We changed second half which benefited us and we could even have won the game.
"The first half is probably what let us down."
He emphasised the importance of consistency over 90 minutes in League Two.

The forward, who has four goals and four assists this season, said: "We know we are a good side, a good footballing team but it just proves in this league that you can't be like that for 45 minutes because you do get punished.
"The expectation at this club now is to try and do it again.
"We have started the season okay, it could be better, of course it could, but it's going to be a bit of a learning curve, especially early in the league, but we have to keep going.
"We know we have a good squad and good players.
"We want to do as well as we can."
Reflecting on changes over the summer, Pearce said the group remains focused and professional.
He said: "That's football isn't it.
"You are playing for York City Football Club so you get your head down and you get on with it.
"You come to work every day and try to do the best you possibly can for yourself, your teammates and the football club.
"That's life. Not a lot has changed in terms of the group of players that are here, it is business as usual."
He also praised coach Scott Lindsey, describing him as "brilliant" to work with.
Pearce said: "Every manager has got different ways they see the game and I think it is important you take on board what he wants to do and you try and learn as quickly as possible.
"We've had some really good results and some really good performances so it's been good."
The forward has started the season brightly but has not set any personal targets for the season, instead choosing to focus on each match as it comes.
Pearce said: "I would like more goals and more assists because I am always striving to get better but it's been an okay start.
"There's a lot more to come from all of us and hopefully we can push on a little bit like we did last season and hit that run of form and get that run of results, especially away from home."
Turning to away form, Pearce acknowledged the step up in quality in League Two.
He said: "We are in a different league now and there are better teams at home who obviously want to try and get results.
"There were times away from home last year where teams were still sitting in a low block or a defensive shape and teams aren't going to do that this year, it's League Two.
"We have had some positive moments away from home, we've had some poor moments away from home.
"It's been made a big thing that we haven't won away yet but we want to get that off our back as early as possible and move on with the rest of the season.
"All I can say is we go into every game wanting to win.
"It hasn't worked in a couple of games, and we have been poor, we accept that, it's been, it's gone so onto this one, let's hope we can get three points."
Saturday's opponents Newport County sit 12th in the League Two table.
