The New York Giants, Denver Broncos, Minnesota Vikings, and other running back-needy teams will have to double their efforts to trade for either Jonathan Taylor or Tony Pollard because Derrick Henry won’t be on the trade market before Nov. 10.
We are just days away from the 2026 NFL trade deadline, and one of the biggest narratives is on who will make an upgrade at running back. Several division leaders and playoff hopefuls want to make a move for an RB, such as the above teams, as well as the Green Bay Packers, Cincinnati Bengals, and New England Patriots.
Many of those franchises have been linked to a trade for the Indianapolis Colts star. However, according to a Friday report from Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer, a Taylor trade could cost a first-round pick, or a package similar to what the San Francisco 49ers gave the Carolina Panthers for Christian McCaffrey three years ago. That was a future second-, third-, fourth-, and fifth-round pick.
It is a steep price. That is why there has been a lot of speculation about teams like the Giants, Broncos, and Vikings pivoting to the Baltimore Ravens star. He would cost less in a trade because he is older than Taylor. Plus, he has far lower financial obligations tied to him in his contract. In many ways, he is a perfect fit. But he won’t be an option before 4:00 PM ET on Tuesday.
Henry is not expected to be traded by the deadline, according to league sources that spoke to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The NFL insider also added that “The Ravens even recently informed Henry that they have no intention of trading him.”
The news isn’t completely shocking. While many believe injuries to Lamar Jackson and Tyler Huntley unofficially ended Baltimore’s playoff hopes, they did make a bold trade for Arizona Cardinals QB Jacoby Brissett this week. Clearly, they feel they can still make the postseason, and moving their best player on offense would badly damage those chances.
