Alan Brazil was quick to mention Rangers in the conversation about Celtic losing 4-1 to Benfica in the Europa League.
The Hoops didn’t just suffer back-to-back defeats against the Gers, but have also lost their last two European games.
Rangers, on the other hand, have continued their pre-international break form, and have seven games in a row.
Celtic-daft Brazil admits that he went to bed at half-time on Thursday as he could not sit through another defeat. His former side were 3-0 down at the break, and did manage to score one goal in the second period of the game.
How much would you be happy to sell him for in the summer?
However, he was happy with Martin O’Neill’s words after the game, where he said that the focus is on the weekend’s game. Brazil thinks that Celtic will only be focused on Rangers and the Scottish Premiership and not the Europa League this season.
He said on talkSPORT: “I went to bed at half-time last night. I thought I can’t watch this. I like what he [Martin O’Neill] said there. I like he’s positive and I like he says the big game is coming up. It gives us confidence because it’s all about the SPL now. Forget the [Europa League]. It’s all about the SPL and Rangers.”
As their European campaign is also not going as planned, there is a chance that Celtic end the season trophyless. They’re already knocked out of the Scottish League Cup by Rangers, and lost at home to their arch rivals in the league.
While they are two points ahead of the Light Blues on the Scottish Premiership table, the form is on the Light Blues’ side, who have won seven games on the spin in all competitions. Celtic, on the other hand, are flaky, and they may not have the answers this season to Derek McInnes and Rangers.
Everything is working out in the blue half of Glasgow and fans will be hoping that this is the start of a dominant era in Scottish football.
