Just two months on from his Castleford Tigers exit, Ryan Carr is being lined up for a leading role in the NRL.
It was confirmed on August 5th that Carr would not be in the stands for the Tigers’ clash against Hull KR with Castleford putting that down to ‘personal reasons’.
His absence would drag on and the club finally released a statement just over a fortnight later to confirm that he would leave the club with immediate effect, again put down to ‘personal reasons’.
That 56-word statement signalled the end of Ryan Carr at Castleford Tigers and ensured the club moved on from yet another head coach, their fifth permanent coach since the exit of Daryl Powell at the end of the 2021 season.
Now, just under two months later, Carr looks set to be back in the coaching box, albeit back down under in the NRL.

It’s been reported by The Daily Telegraph that Carr is a frontrunner to take on the job as assistant coach at Wests Tigers, where he will replace John Morris.
Carr will work alongside Wests legend Benji Marshall, who will be entering his fourth season as head coach of the NRL side, having represented them for over 250 games as a player.
It means that Carr will swap the Tigers for the Tigers though the deal is ‘yet to be formalised’ though per reports an ‘agreement is understood to be close, with an announcement pending his signature’.
Carr had joined Castleford Tigers after working as an assistant at St George Illawarra Dragons. He had also previously worked as the head coach of Featherstone Rovers.
He departed Castleford with a record of eight wins in 23 games, a win percentage of 34%. The Tigers have since appointed ex-St Helens boss Paul Rowley as their head coach for the 2027 season.
