Kembali
The Chicago Bears made a blockbuster move to acquire All-Pro defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons in a trade with the Tennessee Titans. But they might not be done just yet ahead of the Nov. 10 trade deadline.
According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the Bears are still looking to make more moves, specifically at two positions. "The Bears want another pass rusher and secondary help."
The name that continues to be brought up in conjunction with the Bears, including by Schultz, is Los Angeles Chargers edge rusher Khalil Mack. While the Chargers have remained firm that they're not looking to trade anyone, they're sitting at 0-7 after a loss to the Los Angeles Rams, and it would be surprising if they didn't look to build for a future beyond a disappointing 2026 season.
But it sounds like the Bears aren't the only ones interested in Mack, as the San Francisco 49ers are also looking to make a move at edge rusher after trading for defensive tackle DeForest Buckner last week. So there might be competition there. But just like Buckner reuniting with San Francisco made sense, Mack going back to Chicago just makes perfect sense.
While the defensive line has garnered plenty of discussion, the secondary is definitely an area that needs an upgrade. With safety Coby Bryant aiming for a December return after knee surgery, the bigger concern is at cornerback where Jaylon Johnson and Tyrique Stevenson has struggled mightily. Rookie Malik Muhammad has been solid, but Chicago's pass defense as a whole has been brutal.
Schultz didn't name anyone specific, but Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Riq Woolen could make sense for Chicago with Philadelphia now sitting at 2-6 in last place in the NFC East following the loss of quarterback Jalen Hurts for the season.
