Leeds Rhinos have tied down rising talent Fergus McCormack after a positive introduction to Super League.
The homegrown full-back has signed a three-year contract extension that will keep him at Headingley until at least the end of 2029.
McCormack made his first-team debut in February and went on to make five appearances as Lachie Miller's deputy, including a call-up for Leeds' play-off clash with Warrington Wolves last month.
The 20-year-old ended the season with the club's Young Player of the Year award.
"I'm really pleased to have signed a new deal and commit my future to Leeds Rhinos," he said.
"This club has been a huge part of my journey so far. I'm grateful for the opportunities and support I've had since joining the scholarship.
"Making my senior debut and getting the chance to play in the first team has been a big moment for me. I know there is still plenty of hard work ahead. I'm determined to keep improving, learn from the experienced players around me and make the most of every opportunity.
"Leeds is where I want to be. Playing at AMT Headingley in front of our supporters is something special. I'm excited about what we can achieve together over the coming years."
McCormack is set to play the role of understudy again next season behind Dream Team full-back Miller.
However, the youngster also provides Rhinos boss Brad Arthur with another option in the halves as the club begin life without Brodie Croft.
"Fergus has shown a great attitude towards his development and has worked hard to put himself in a position to compete for opportunities in the first team," said Arthur.
"He has come through the club’s system, understands what it means to represent Leeds Rhinos and has demonstrated that he is prepared to learn and improve. His versatility is another positive, and he has shown he can step in and contribute when called upon.
"I think Chev Walker has done a tremendous job with Fergus helping him to transition to the first team whilst Scott Grix and Lachie Miller have helped him settle into the full-back role.
"This extension gives Fergus the opportunity to keep developing in an environment that knows him well. The next step is to continue working hard, build consistency and make the most of the opportunities that come his way."
