‘Rams Were Supposed to Win the Super Bowl,’ 'Doesn’t Make Any Sense' -- Jason and Travis Kelce Stunned by Los Angeles' ‘Crazy’ 2-4 Start

The Los Angeles Rams’ Week 6 loss to the Arizona Cardinals exposed the issues plaguing the team this season, but the warning signs had been there all along. Now sitting at 2-4, the Rams are running out of room for error.

The team’s struggles have surprised even NFL veterans, especially given the talent added during the offseason. On the latest episode of the “New Heights” podcast, Jason and Travis Kelce shared their thoughts on what might have gone wrong in Los Angeles.

Jason and Travis Kelce Can’t Make Sense of the Rams’ 2–4 Start

“Dude, the Rams were supposed to win the Super Bowl before the season, like they had this monster team,” Travis began.

“If you would have told me the Rams are 2-4 at this point or the Browns were 4-2, I would have been like, dude, the Rams having a losing record six games in, I would have never guessed.”

With reigning MVP Matthew Stafford at quarterback, two productive running backs in Blake Corum and Kyren Williams, and a dangerous receiving corps led by Puka Nacua, the Rams had plenty of firepower on offense.

They also have Sean McVay, a Super Bowl-winning head coach known for his offensive acumen. That made their offseason focus on defense understandable. The Rams made major defensive investments, dealing significant draft capital for Trent McDuffie and sending Jared Verse, plus three future picks, to Cleveland for Myles Garrett.

According to Jason, some of those moves have paid off on the field. However, the improvements haven’t translated into wins, leaving the Rams in unfamiliar territory just six weeks into the season.

“They’re the first team, I believe, potentially in NFL history that is top three in offense and defense and has started the year with a 2-4 record or something like that,” Jason said, leaving his brother stunned.

Jason appeared to be referring to total yardage: the Rams rank third in the NFL in both offensive yards per game and fewest defensive yards allowed per game through Week 6.

“What? They’re top three? That doesn’t make any [expletive] sense at all,” Travis replied.

Jason then explained how the Rams have repeatedly hurt their own chances this season, pointing to turnovers, costly penalties, and struggles with the kicker that led the team to move on from Harrison Mevis after Week 5.

“The turnovers, some crucial penalties, their kicker that they’ve cut… was five for nine… They’ve done a great job of killing themselves this season so far.”

Unfortunately for Los Angeles, things could get even worse in the coming weeks. Davante Adams is expected to miss an extended period with a hamstring injury, while Myles Garrett remains on injured reserve.

Jason also believes the Rams are abandoning the run game despite its success.

“The Rams should be running the football more anyway. That’s one of the reasons they’re struggling: they aren’t [expletive] committing. They’re getting yardage in the run game, and they’re just going away from it. I don’t know what they’re trying to do, but it’s not great.”

Rams currently rank No. 14 in PFN’s Offense Impact Score with a grade of 75.0, while the defense ranks No. 14 in PFN’s Defense Impact Score with a grade of 76.2 through six weeks.

The Rams have the talent and production to be in a much better position, and if their misfortunes begin to even out, they could still emerge as a top-tier contender in the NFC.

However, at 2-4, time is running out. They need to turn things around soon to keep their playoff hopes alive and avoid letting the season slip away.
