The Manchester United prospect was sent off, but the Red Devils managed a victory in a five-goal game nevertheless.

Kai Rooney red carded in five-goal Manchester United victory

Manchester United continue on a nine-game winless streak in all competitions following a torrid start to their season.

Michael Carrick’s first team are experiencing a tough time of things in the Premier League and UEFA Champions League, with wins against Ipswich Town and Sabah their only victories so far.

While one side struggles, another is continuing to improve.

Darren Fletcher’s Under-18s team have won for the second time in a matter of days after smashing Burnley four-nil in midweek.

In a game against Blackburn Rovers that saw new signing from Manchester City, Karim Cassim, make his first ever start for the side, United came out victorious despite going down to ten men.

In the second half, United prospect and son of club legend Wayne Rooney, Kai, was given his marching orders despite scoring in the first.

Rooney, who made his debut a step up with the Under-21s just weeks ago, netted in the 45th minute with a near post header, making it 1-1 after the home side’s opener.

However, Rooney was handed a second yellow card on minute 62 after an aerial duel in the centre-circle. Unfair, seemingly, but a red card to deal with.

The numerical disadvantage did not face the Red Devils, as they scored three times following the decision.

Kai Rooney starred before his removal from the game, while Jaume Camacho Sidos scored a brace and Noah Ajayi netted once. A great day for Darren Fletcher’s side.

The Under-21s will be taking notice of the team’s form after handing Kai Rooney and Jaume Camacho Sidos call-ups to the side weeks ago for a game against Nottingham Forest.

If young prospect Rooney is to keep progressing, he needs to be careful with his red cards, but was unlucky against Blackburn.
