It has been a historic WNBA Finals so far.
One more landmark moment was reached on Thursday, Oct. 29 when the Atlanta Dream beat the Golden State Valkyries 80-69 in Game 6. The victory tied the series, forcing the first ever Game 7 for the league's championship.
The Valkyries could have won their first title in only their second season of existence on Thursday. But the Dream stormed out the gate at the 12:30 p.m. tipoff in Atlanta and scored 32 points in the first quarter.
Despite Gabby Williams leading all shooters with 26 points for the Valkyries and Laeticia Amihere adding a boost off the bench, Golden State couldn't keep up.
The Dream had four players in double digits as they extended their chance to capture their first title. Allisha Gray had 23 points, Rhyne Howard had 21 and Jordin Canada added 10. Angel Reese had a down shooting night and notched 15 points, but contributed 14 rebounds for her fourth double-double of the series. She had three straight double-doubles in the series' first three games.
The series is now win-or-go-home for both teams and moves back to primetime after playing in the early afternoon. This was due to scheduling conflicts with the Atlanta Hawks, who also play in State Farm Arena.
