India Women completed a dominant clean sweep of the three-match T20I series against Zimbabwe Women with a commanding 92-run victory in the third T20I at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium. Former skipper Harmanpreet Kaur delivered a sensational batting performance, scoring 91 runs off just 41 balls, while Shafali Verma contributed an explosive half-century to power India to a massive total of 216/7. In response, Zimbabwe managed only 124/7 in their allotted 20 overs, with India’s bowlers maintaining control throughout the chase.

Harmanpreet Kaur and Shafali Verma power India to massive total

After winning the toss and electing to bat, India Women made full use of the opportunity to post a formidable total. Shafali provided an aggressive start, scoring 69 off 37 deliveries, including six fours and five sixes. She attacked the Zimbabwe bowlers from the outset and laid the foundation for a big first-innings score. Anushka Sharma also made a useful contribution, scoring 28 off 20 balls with four boundaries and a six. However, it was Harmanpreet who took charge of the innings with a spectacular display of power-hitting. The Indian captain struck 91 runs off only 41 deliveries, smashing 10 fours and five sixes to put Zimbabwe’s bowling attack under immense pressure.

Harmanpreet’s innings ensured that India maintained an impressive scoring rate even as wickets fell at the other end. Niki Prasad managed nine runs, while Richa Ghosh and Deepti Sharma could not make significant contributions. Arundhati Reddy and Prema Rawat added four runs apiece as India finished at 216/7 in 20 overs.

For Zimbabwe, Beloved Biza was the most successful bowler, claiming three wickets despite conceding 50 runs in her four overs. Nomvelo Sibanda, Tendai Makusha and Nyasha Gwanzura picked up one wicket each, but the bowling unit struggled to contain India’s aggressive batters.

Zimbabwe fall short despite Sharne Mayers’ fighting knock

Chasing a challenging target of 217 runs, Zimbabwe Women needed a strong start to remain competitive. However, their innings got off to a poor beginning as Kelis Ndhlovu was dismissed for a duck after facing just one delivery. Sharne Mayers attempted to keep the chase alive with a determined knock of 60 off 49 balls, hitting four fours and four sixes. Biza also contributed 44 from 50 deliveries, striking five boundaries as the pair tried to rebuild the innings after the early setbacks.

Despite their efforts, Zimbabwe struggled to accelerate against India’s disciplined bowling attack. The required run rate continued to climb, leaving the visitors with an increasingly difficult task. Modester Mupachikwa scored just one run, while Gwanzura managed two. Chipo Mugeri Tiripano added seven runs, but the remaining batters failed to provide the late acceleration needed. Zimbabwe eventually finished at 124/7 in 20 overs, falling 92 runs short of the target.

Nandani Sharma led India’s bowling effort with an impressive three-wicket haul, conceding just 18 runs in four overs. Deepti picked up one wicket for 18 runs, while Kranti Gaud, Arundhati and Niki also claimed a wicket each. India’s collective bowling performance ensured that Zimbabwe never threatened the target. Harmanpreet was named Player of the Match for her outstanding innings of 91 runs, which proved decisive in India’s comprehensive victory. The result completed a 3-0 series sweep for India Women, who had already won the opening T20I by four wickets and the second match by nine wickets. With the T20I series concluded, both teams will now turn their attention to the 50-over format as the first ODI is set to takwe place on Friday, October 23, at Kotambi Stadium.
