Team GB's golden girl Keely Hodgkinson has been snapped at Manchester United's training ground. And Sky Sports, after the picture went viral, have admitted that "something is coming".

Hodgkinson, who was born and raised in Manchester, is a Red Devils superfan. And the middle-distance runner has a closer connection to the club than most after going to school with women's star Ella Toone.

The pair are close pals, and it was alongside Toone that the Parisian gold medalist was snapped. Despite the footballer being two years older than the athlete, the pair forged a strong friendship during their school days.

Speaking about their relationship in 2022, Hodgkinson said: "We are just two young girls living their dreams. Ella and I went to school together. She was two years older but somehow we ended up getting on really well.

"I was always referred to as the 'mini Ella' growing up at school. So we kept in touch from that and she was in Tokyo last year as well. We are just two young girls living their dreams."

And the reason for her visit was soon revealed as she starred on Sky Sports' Minus 1 to preview the upcoming Manchester derby.

In the social video, the childhood friends reunite at Carrington to compare their preparations, from massages to dressing room nerves.

And speaking to Sky Sports, Toone said: “It was so nice to catch up with Keely again and show her what a day in a life looks like for me. There are obvious similarities in preparation, but you can see just how tough it can be working as an individual versus being a part of a team.

“Hopefully the series will allow fans to see all the unseen little moments that go into making us shine on the pitch.”
