Even if Michael Carrick stays at Manchester United one thing cannot be ignored
Michael Carrick is fighting to save his job after yet another dire performance from his side.
The United head coach was clearly furious in the aftermath of the defeat to Como, and Bruno Fernandes' criticism of his tactics certainly didn't help to improve Carrick's mood.
One thing that cannot be questioned is Carrick's love and passion for this club, but United need far more than that right now.
After the Como defeat, we asked our readers to vote on whether they thought Carrick should be sacked after making it just two wins from 11 games.
At the time of writing, over 8,000 people had voted in our poll that went live after the Como defeat, with 60% saying they think United should part ways with Carrick.
31% believe United should stick by their head coach and the remaining 9% were unsure.
Carrick has always had healthy support from the United fan base, having enjoyed a stellar playing career at Old Trafford before returning to guide the club back into the Champions League.
However, it seems the tide may slowly be beginning to turn, with more than half of the readers who voted in our poll wanting him to leave.
If he does hang on to his job, it's clear he has a lot of work to do to win the fans over again and prove he can be the man to bring the glory days back to Old Trafford.
