Harrowby were left wondering how they returned home empty-handed after a dominant display ended in defeat at Sandiacre Town on Saturday.
The Arrows were sunk by a second half penalty from Callum Clarke in what was Sandiacre's only real chance of the United Counties League Division One contest.
They made the trip to Derbyshire without the services of Harry Johnson and Sam Brakewell but Taylor Gray did return to the Arrows' ranks after a spell at Sleaford Town.
Sandiacre's tactics were apparent from the kick-off as they tried to upset a young Arrows team with the long ball.
There were few chances in the first half as Harrowby struggled to get any flow to their play on a narrow pitch.
The Arrows' best move of the half came just before the break when Luke Cullen's shot was somehow stopped on the line by a defender.
The second half followed a similar pattern but the game swung in Sandiacre's favour when a ball over the top was latched onto by Pharrell Waite who was clipped by Harrowby goalkeeper Ben Martin for a penalty that Clarke converted.
Harrowby had a real go to get the equaliser but the final ball eluded them with Cullen hitting the crossbar late on from Kieran Stanley pass.
Luck was not on Harrowby's side as Sandiacre's defended well to see out the game.
Harrowby travel to Clifton All Whites on Wednesday night before hosting Clipstone on Saturday in the League KO Cup.
Their squad on Saturday also featured Lewis Weaver who has joined the Arrows after spells with West Bridgford, Clipstone and Kimberley.
