Union Berlin continued their fine form with a goalless draw against Borussia Dortmund on Saturday. Mauro Lustrinelli's side recorded their first clean sheet and win of the season last week against Elversberg.

“We have continued the good performance that we showed last week throughout this week,” said the coach who was under pressure after the poor results at the start of the season. The club from the capital city conceded 14 goals in the last three games before the international break, including a 7-0 defeat to FC Bayern.

“I am very satisfied with the team's work. They worked together and tried until the end to win the game. It's a nice 0-0 for us.” Lustrinelli concluded his evaluation of the game.

Frederik Rönnow also focused on their improved defensive performances after the three-week break. “Of course, we conceded too many goals in the first games, which is why we wanted to use the international break to work on our stability,” said the goalkeeper in his post-match interview.

“I think we have done quite well in that regard and today we were able to deliver a solid team performance again. We are pleased with the point, but we want to stay focused,” added Rönnow after keeping back-to-back clean sheets (via Union Berlin’s website).

Center-back Felix Uduokhai, who returned to Bundesliga after a spell in Turkish Super Lig, said the same as Augsburg will now look to improve their form away from home.

“We simply defend better as a whole team. I’m really excited that we kept a clean sheet today. We need to build on that. We knew today the focus was on being compact and that we defend clearly as a unit.”
