Over the last couple of years, WWE has made an effort to increase its Spanish-speaking fan base. Stars like Penta and Stephanie Vaquer are just a couple of the Latin performers featured each week on episodes of RAW and SmackDown. Furthermore, before WrestleMania 41 last year, the company purchased legendary Mexican promotion AAA and has a lot of crossover between it and its established brands.

Now, according to PW Insider, there has been a recent push backstage to bring back the character Sin Cara. Mexican star Mistico was under the mask when the character debuted in 2011. Then, when he had creative differences with management, he was replaced by Hunico. The character never really took off with fans, but it is still owned by WWE and can be used by any performer.

If WWE does decide to bring the character back, we take a look at seven stars who could be the next Sin Cara.

Joaquin Wilde & Cruz del Toro

As a tag team, Cruz Del Toro and Joaquin Wilde have showcased some impressive athleticism and skill. However, during stints in Legado del Fantasma and the LWO, they never built a fanbase. Both are still under contract with the company because WWE clearly sees value in them and has used their talents in AAA. If Sin Cars returns, it would not be a surprise if either man were under the mask.

Romeo Moreno

NXT star Romeo Moreno is an exciting young talent with potential. The company could continue his development on the black and gold brand over the next couple of years. However, on a pure athleticism level, he would be a good fit to be the new Sin Cara. And because he is only 24, he could work under the mask for the next two decades.

Axiom & Nathan Frazer

A case can be made that Fraxiom is the best tag team on any brand in WWE. However, promoting their tag division continues to be a weakness for the company. So it means that both Axiom and Nathan Frazer will always be in danger of being in the next round of roster cuts unless the company gives them a serious long-term creative push.

If that push doesn’t come — and it really should — either man would make a ton of sense as the new Sin Cara. While the assumption would be that that character would be a native of Mexico, the Spanish and English stars’ skill sets are a great fit for the character.

Kale Dixon

Development talent Kale Dixon has been off NXT TV for months due to a rumored injury and after his tag team with Uriah Connors was dissolved. While he is bigger than the two men who previously donned the mantle, he has a ton of athletic talent, is young, and is in creative limbo. Returning to the ring as a very different version of the character makes some sense.

Elio LeFleur

French independent star Elio LeFleur saw his debut run in the company curtailed due to a shoulder injury earlier this year. It would make sense to bring him back as the character fans previously saw to give French wrestling fans a favorite star. However, if WWE coaches feel his character was not connecting with the audience, he certainly has the athleticism and wrestling style to be a fun option as the next Sin Cara.

Noam Dar

One last option to be the new Sin Cara could be Noam Dar. The long-time NXT talent has stuck with the company because he is a reliable veteran talent and teacher. However, he has never gotten an extended opportunity on the main roster. Donning the mask might be his best route, as he would offer the company a performer they can trust to take over the character.
