Throughout the offseason, the Charlotte Hornets were rumored to be bringing back one of their most beloved city jerseys. Those rumors were confirmed earlier this week, as pictures of the jersey recreation and a brand new court inspired by them surfaced on social media. The jerseys, which were last worn by Charlotte during the 2017-18 season are all black with purple and teal accents on the side. They feature a text across the center that reads "Buzz City" above the jersey number.
Franchise legend Kemba Walker is the most notable Hornets player to wear the jersey, as the 2017-18 season was one of his four consecutive All-Star seasons. That year, the former UConn guard averaged 22.1 points, 5.6 assists, 3.1 rebounds and 1.1 steals. However, the most notable NBA player to sport the jersey was Hall of Famer Dwight Howard, who did so in his lone season with the Hornets. Howard easily averaged a double-double that season, finishing the year with tallies of 16.6 points, 12.3 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 0.6 steals and 1.6 blocks.
