Northampton Saints have issued a statement after a security scare at their home ground. Both teams had to leave the pitch after Sunday's match against Cardiff Rugby.
The game had just ended when both sides left the field.
Fans had hoped to see the players after the match. However, both teams went straight inside.
Saints later shared a message to explain why this had happened.
The club thanked fans for their support and said sorry for how the night ended.
In a post on their official X account, Saints said:
“A huge thank you to everyone who joined us at tonight’s match against Cardiff for your outstanding backing.
“We’re sorry that supporters didn’t get the opportunity to see the players after the final whistle. Following a security incident at the stadium, both sides left the field immediately as a precautionary measure.
“Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. The safety of our supporters, players, staff and officials will always remain our top priority.”
Saints have yet to reveal what caused the scare.
The club said both teams left the pitch to keep everyone safe.
Fans were unable to see the players after the game as a result.
It was a strange end to the night at Franklin's Gardens.
For now, the club has not shared any more details about what took place.
