The NFL Network's camera crew endured another challenging outing during International Series coverage, committing multiple errors throughout the Jacksonville Jaguars' matchup against the Houston Texans, notably failing to capture Travis Hunter's interception.
For the third consecutive week, cameramen were deceived by misdirection plays and couldn't follow the ball in real time. Similar issues plagued the Jaguars' victory over the Philadelphia Eagles, before the crew missed Hunter's crucial fourth-down interception of CJ Stroud.
Earlier in the contest, the NFL Network broadcast switched away from a kickoff to display previous drive highlights, missing a fumble entirely. Viewers expressed unanimous frustration, particularly concerning next week's International game, with the Pittsburgh Steelers taking on the New Orleans Saints in Paris.
One viewer questioned, "Does the NFL not pay the camera crew enough? Didn't even see the Travis Hunter pick," while another stated, "NFL network broadcasting games are horrible, even the cameraman got faked out by the PA pass ...I didn't even know Travis Hunter got an interception lol."
A third fan remarked, "Travis Hunter moving different, unlike your cameraman."
Meanwhile, a fourth quipped, "The NFL Network cameraman is my dad with a camcorder when I did something cool 30 years ago."
The missed coverage was particularly unfortunate given Hunter's exceptional performance, delivering what may have been the finest game of his emerging NFL career - excelling in both receiving and cornerback duties. On the drive preceding the interception, Hunter lined up as a running back while running an angle route of the backfield - finding the end zone for a touchdown.
Hunter then transitioned back to cornerback on the next drive, picking off Stroud on the goal line to hand his team the opportunity to level the score.
The Jaguars managed to march down the field and convert a game-tying field goal, before Stroud did enough to put his kicker, Kai'mi Fairbairn, within range for a walk-off field goal.
It was a monumental victory for the Texans after an 0-4 start, as back-to-back wins kept their season alive while they trail division leaders the Jaguars by two games.
A Jaguars victory would have pushed them to the brink of clinching the AFC South, but instead they fell to 4-2. With a favorable schedule ahead, the Texans' prospects are looking increasingly promising.
NFL Network will broadcast next week's matchup between the Steelers and Saints, with Jason Kelce set to return to the commentary booth following his impressive performances in the role over recent weeks.
