In advance of their Week 6 game at the New York Giants, the New Orleans Saints announced two personnel moves on Saturday afternoon. Long snapper Zach Wood was officially activated from injured reserve. Additionally, the Saints announced that wide receiver Cedric Tillman was elevated from the practice squad.
Wood, 33, has been the long snapper for the Saints since 2017. He had played every game for New Orleans since, 150 consecutive regular season contests. In the season opener, Wood suffered a calf strain. He was placed on short-term injured reserve prior to Week 2 but was designated for return earlier this week and practiced with the team.
Tillman, 26, was a standard weekly elevation for the Saints. He played collegiately for the Tennessee Volunteers from 2018 through 2022. Over those five years, he had 109 receptions for 1,622 yards and 17 scores, including 64 catches and 1,081 yards during the 2021 campaign. Tillman was a third round choice of the Cleveland Browns in the 2023 NFL Draft. He spent three seasons with the Browns and caught 71 balls for 833 yards with 5 touchdowns. Son of former Denver Broncos wideout Cedric Tillman, Tillman was signed by New Orleans this offseason. He'd spent the season on the Saints practice squad before being elevated last week against Minnesota, playing just one offensive snap.
A 1-4 Saints squad hopes to break a three-game losing streak on Sunday. They'll try to do so against a 3-1-1 Giants team undefeated at home so far. Kickoff is a noon CST.
