Real Madrid are reportedly preparing an audacious transfer swoop for Tottenham Hotspur star Pedro Porro as direct revenge against Barcelona for hijacking their pursuit of Rodri earlier in the year. The Spanish giants are eager to strike back at their fierce El Clasico rivals following summer transfer drama that saw Rodri opt for a €60 million move to the Camp Nou after seven successful seasons at Manchester City.

With Los Blancos having tracked the former Ballon d’Or winner for a prolonged period, Barcelona’s decisive intervention caught Madrid off guard and stung the hierarchy in the capital. Now, according to reports from Cadena SER covered by Sport Witness, Real Madrid are actively looking to return the favor by targeting Porro before Barcelona can secure the right-back’s services.

Porro’s Desire to Return to Spain Amid Spurs’ Struggles

The Tottenham defender is increasingly keen on securing a move back to Spain in the near future, driven largely by concerns that Spurs’ poor domestic form could jeopardize his standing with the Spanish national team. Having played a pivotal role for his country at the World Cup, missing recent international fixtures due to injury has heightened his anxiety about retaining his spot ahead of upcoming European competitions.

While Barcelona currently stands as the player’s top choice, Porro wants clarity on whether Real Madrid’s interest remains genuinely active before making a firm decision. Los Blancos are assessing multiple options in the market, including Trent Alexander-Arnold and Denzel Dumfries, but could push to bring Porro to the Santiago Bernabeu as early as the upcoming transfer windows.

As reported by Cadena SER journalist Pacojó Delgado, a “Reverse Rodri” scenario remains entirely feasible if Real Madrid decide to act aggressively on their interest. He said:

“If Madrid makes a strong move, knowing that Trent Alexander-Arnold isn’t convincing at full-back, there might well be an opportunity.”

For Tottenham Hotspur, facing intense interest from both La Liga powerhouses creates a daunting defensive dilemma. With Roberto De Zerbi working to stabilize performance levels, losing a dynamic fullback like Pedro Porro during the mid-season window would deal a massive blow to the squad’s tactical balance and top-four ambitions.
